Meet Dr. Somer DelSignore
A board-certified Doctor of Nursing Practice who became a champion of root-cause medicine — because the standard model kept failing the patients in her exam room.
Dr. Somer trained inside the system she now pushes to be better: a Doctor of Nursing Practice from SUNY Upstate, a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania, board certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, and more than twenty years in practice.
She didn't set out to be a critic. She became one inside the exam room — watching kids and young adults arrive, year after year, with patterns the textbook didn't name. Families already on specialist number four or five. Folders full of 'normal' labs. And the same quiet question every time: then why is my child still sick?
Her answer became her life's work: look across the whole body, not one organ at a time. Find what's actually weighing on the immune system. Then name the pattern out loud, in plain language a parent can repeat at the kitchen table.

A family arrives with seven specialist letters and four diagnoses that don't quite agree. Dr. Somer's job is to read all of it, look at the whole person, and explain — in words you can actually use — what the body is doing and what to address first. That's the work.
