Sweet Wormwood (aerial portion)

150 mg

Structure / Function

Sweet wormwood is a bitter leafy herb, and the aerial portion means the parts above ground, the leaves, stems and flowers rather than the root. It is not a nutrient your body needs for a job of its own. It is here as a traditional-use botanicalA plant or herb included because people have used it for a long time, not because of a health claim..

Olive Leaf Extract (standardized to 20% oleuropein)

100 mg

Structure / Function

Olive leaf comes from the same tree that gives us olives and olive oil, just the leaf instead of the fruit. The leaf is rich in polyphenols, bitter plant compounds. Your body uses them as antioxidantA protector molecule. It steps in and defuses the unstable particles that would otherwise wear your cells down. backup against free radicalsUnstable particles your body makes just from normal living (plus stress and pollution) that slowly damage cells over time, a bit like rust on metal., the unstable particles that slowly wear cells down.

Black Walnut Hulls

85 mg

Structure / Function

Black walnut hulls are the green outer husk that wraps the nut, from a tree common across the eastern United States. The hull is bitter and rich in tannins, the same mouth-drying compounds you taste in strong tea. It is here as a traditional-use botanicalA plant or herb included because people have used it for a long time, not because of a health claim., not a nutrient your body needs.

Berberine Hydrochloride Hydrate

75 mg

Structure / Function

Berberine is a bright yellow, bitter compound made by plants such as goldenseal and barberry. It is not a nutrient your body needs, but it is one of the most studied plant compounds in supplement research. It is the same compound in our dedicated berberine capsule.

Artemisinin

25 mg

Structure / Function

Artemisinin is a single compound drawn out of that same sweet wormwood plant and concentrated on its own. The herb above is the plant itself, meaning the leaves, stems and flowers. This is one isolated piece of it, related but not interchangeable. It is here for the same traditional reason as the herb, not for a proven benefit.

These summaries describe each ingredient's role in normal physiology — they are not a claim to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

The olive leaf extract here supplies [[oleuropein]], its best-studied plant compound. In one small study, women taking it kept normal levels of one marker of daily cell wear. A small study of healthy men found support for the muscles' normal energy response to a workout. A third study in athletes gave only an early hint, not proof. It suggests olive leaf may help support normal immune readiness during hard training. All of this comes from the olive leaf alone.

How do I take Microbial Support 2?

The label says one capsule three times a day, but if your practitioner set a different amount, follow theirs. With bitter botanicals it is common to start lower and build up. Taking it with food helps if it is hard on your stomach. And if it still does not agree with you, do not push through. Pause, and tell your practitioner what you noticed so they can adjust the plan.

What is in each capsule?

Sweet wormwood 150 mg, olive leaf extract 100 mg, black walnut hulls 85 mg, [[berberine]] 75 mg and [[artemisinin]] 25 mg. The first three are herbs; berberine is a bitter compound taken from plants like barberry, and artemisinin is the concentrated part of sweet wormwood. Worth knowing: the berberine amount here is well below what studies have used.

Can my child take it?

That is your practitioner's call. They will decide if it fits your child, and at what amount. If your child has not been evaluated yet, the first step is a visit, not a supplement.

Can I take it with my other supplements or medication?

Ask before you combine anything. Two ingredients here, [[berberine]] and [[artemisinin]], can interact with some medications, and the right answer depends on your full list. Bring that list to your visit, or message the office before you add this in.

Is there anyone who should not take it?

Yes. The label says do not use this product if you are pregnant or nursing. And because it contains black walnut hulls, it is not for anyone with a tree nut allergy. That includes children.

You're not alone

Still not sure? You don't have to choose alone.
